Intrusive thoughts can feel disturbing, exhausting, or impossible to shut off. You may find yourself replaying the past, imagining things you would never want to do, questioning what your thoughts mean about you, or getting pulled into the same unwanted mental loops over and over again. Luma Theta uses theta-based hypnotherapy to help you work with the subconscious, emotional, and neurosomatic patterns that may be contributing to rumination, unwanted thoughts, and repetitive mental patterns—so you can develop greater freedom in how you respond when they appear.
Important Note: If you are experiencing urgent, life-threatening thoughts toward yourself or others, call your doctor right away or visit your local emergency room. Do not wait to get an appointment at Luma Theta for life-threatening or urgent matters.
You may have thoughts you wish you could stop thinking.
Maybe your mind keeps replaying something that happened years ago. You revisit a conversation over and over, imagining what you should have said or done differently. You keep thinking about a mistake, a painful experience, a fear, or something you desperately wish you could put behind you.
Or maybe the thoughts are more disturbing.
You may have sudden thoughts about doing something you have absolutely no desire to do. Thoughts about hurting yourself, hurting someone else, losing control, doing something inappropriate, or something happening to the people you love.
And then the thought itself becomes frightening.
Why did I think that?
What does that mean about me?
Would I actually do something like that?
Why can’t I stop thinking about this?
You may try to push the thought away—only to find that it comes back.
For some people, intrusive thoughts aren’t the same as unwanted intentions.
A thought can appear precisely because it represents something you do not want. Your mind may become fixated on the possibility of something because it feels frightening, disturbing, uncertain, or important to you. The more you analyze the thought, check your reaction to it, argue with it, or try to prove that it isn’t true, the more attention your mind may give it.
Eventually, the thought itself can become part of the pattern.
At Luma Theta, we work with the emotional, subconscious, and body-based patterns that may be contributing to intrusive thoughts, rumination, repetitive thinking, unwanted mental images, overthinking, and recurring thoughts about the past.
Through deep, theta-based hypnotherapy, we can help you experience familiar thoughts and mental patterns from a different perspective. We work with the emotional responses, learned associations, and subconscious expectations that may cause certain thoughts to keep returning or feel more powerful than they actually are.
Because sometimes, the goal isn’t to force a thought to disappear.
It’s to change what happens after it appears.
Through neurosomatic reinforcement, your mind and body can begin practicing a different response. A thought can arise without automatically pulling you into analysis, fear, checking, shame, or hours of rumination. You can begin recognizing that a thought is an experience happening in your mind—not necessarily a command, intention, prediction, or reflection of who you are.
Imagine remembering something painful without getting pulled back into reliving it.
Imagine an unwanted thought appearing—and being able to let it pass without immediately needing to figure out what it means.
Imagine spending less time replaying the past, imagining the worst, or arguing with your own mind.
Imagine having more space between a thought and everything that happens next.
The goal isn’t necessarily to control every thought you ever have.
It’s to create greater freedom from the patterns that keep certain thoughts alive—and help you develop a different relationship with the experiences happening inside your mind.

Depending on your personal preference, learning style, and the longevity and complexity of the symptoms or patterns you’ve been dealing with, Luma Theta offers two primary tracks for creating change:
Rapid Rewire Changework uses 1–3 deep, extended sessions designed to help create meaningful change quickly by working intensively with the underlying patterns connected to the issue.
The Reteaching Method uses approximately 3–8 shorter sessions for each desired change, allowing us to repeatedly introduce, practice, reinforce, and build on new emotional and somatic responses over time.
For most people who have experienced intrusive thoughts for an extended period of time, a combination of both methods are recommended. You may book a complimentary consultation to learn more about what will be most right for you, or simply begin with your first Rapid Rewire Session.
You can learn more about what these approaches look like and decide which may be the better fit for you on our About Our Sessions page.
